It is better to Give or Receive?
What were you taught? It is better to receive or give?
What if they are equally important?
Because I believe that they are. They are just 2 sides of the same coin.
But as a child and for my whole life I have been taught that it is better to give than to receive.
And while I believe it is hugely important to give, I am also learning that is it also important to become better at receiving.
Especially as I have been on my journey to financial freedom and have had to unpack the idea that my value and worth were separate from my financial wealth and value.
And as I have opened up to this idea, I realize that I have also opened myself up to RECEIVING more financial growth!!
Because when I believe that my worth is separate from my financial status, then I open myself up to RECEIVING more financial goodness and blessings!!
Financially wealthy people are really good at receiving!!! I read this in a book last week, “Secrets of the Millionaire Mind” by T. Harv Eker. And it kind of blew my mind. I mean I have never thought about financial freedom as a part of receiving. I thought it meant I had to work really hard to figure out my finances and that I had to hustle for my worth with my money.
But I never thought of receiving in the equation of wealth. I mean I have always been good at giving, because I mean, “Isn’t that better?” “Isn’t that more Christlike?” Somehow I had it in my mind that receiving is actually kind of bad. And I am realizing now that if I want true financial freedom then I am going to have to delete this file in my brain and upload this new file where I am great at receiving. I want to open up my potential of earning and wealth to the universe and ask it to bless me.
Which is so counter intuitive to the ideas was taught my whole life that it is better to give them to receive, and as a result of that teaching, I have not been so good at receiving. In fact have often found myself rejecting situations and people because I am more comfortable giving than receiving. And I realize that when I reject the giving, I am also rejecting financial freedom. I am saying to the universe, no thank you, I don’t need financial freedom,so give it to someone else who does.
But I am changing that, as I am changing my mindset around financial wealth.
I am learning that to receive is necessary if we want deeper connections with the people in our lives!! Because when you graciously receive from someone who is serving you, you fill up their cup because they were able to offer you something valuable and important to them!!!
If all I do is give, then I am separating myself from people. It’s more about me and what I am doing for them and NOT us doing for each other.
It’s about ego and disconnection!!
But when I allow others to serve me then I step into the truth that I am spiritually connected on a deep level to everyone on this planet and our commitment to each other grows in love 🥰 through service!!
So here is your Challenge for the week- I want you to practice Receiving this week! When someone compliments you just say thank you. When someone wants to do something for you, just say YES.
Now I know that this will be uncomfortable for some of you and that is why it it a challenge.
But I want to you know that you can feel uncomfortable AND you can still receive and say thank you!!
Discomfort=Growth
Wishing you all a beautiful and happy week!!!
